• North Norfolk Business Impact Survey

To help establish a clearer picture of the challenges local businesses are facing as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic and the scale of impact the pandemic has had on local businesses, North Norfolk District Council has launched the North Norfolk Covid-19 Business Impact Survey. This survey, which should take no longer than 15 minutes to complete, will directly inform future recovery support for local businesses from the District Council and potentially those within other key organisations such as Central Government, the New Anglia LEP, other local authorities and local business groups. It will also provide evidence to potentially influence future business funding or business support programmes.

  • Granary Staithe Works

While important works are in progress, and for the safety of members of the public, we have closed off Granary Staithe and would ask that you avoid this area completely. We apologise for this inconvenience. A specialist drainage contractor was commissioned to investigate drainage problems that occurred in the precinct during the periods of very heavy rainfall earlier in the year. These events caused flooding to certain local business premises. In the course of this investigation, it will be necessary to excavate a large diameter drainage pipe in order to assess its condition. This pipe takes surface water from a large area around the precinct and the village centre, clearing vast volumes of water during rainstorms. These works are an important precursor to the extensive refurbishment of the precinct due to take place this year, so we hope you will understand. We expect the works to be complete, and the area to be re-opened, early next week.

  • Stalham Road Speed Limit Update

At the end of 2019, Hoveton Parish Council wrote to Norfolk County Council to request that the speed limit on the 40mph residential section of Stalham Road be reduced to 30mph. Despite backing up this request with data gathered from our SAM2 sign and referencing the criteria for change outlined in the Norfolk Speed Management Strategy, NCC turned down our request for a speed limit reduction. In March, we sent a follow-up letter to NCC in order to press this issue further, but unfortunately our request to reduce the speed limit has again been refused. We have been told the location’s personal injury accident history doesn’t support the perception that this road is particularly dangerous, and that the traffic regulation order costs which would need to accompany the speed limit change would not be seen as cost effective.
