  • Draft Local Plan Consultation Response

After consulting local residents and considering all feedback received, Hoveton Parish Council recently submitted its response to North Norfolk District Council’s First Draft Local Plan public consultation.

Your Parish Council’s response focused on the fifteen proposals made for Hoveton, and included the following points: a preference for smaller sites (and a holistic, integrated approach to development) rather than a single large development as proposed in the First Draft Local Plan (Site Reference HV01/B, Land East of Tunstead Road); a request that already approved developments at Church Field (25 new homes) and Tilia Business Park (28 new homes) should count towards Hoveton’s overall housing allocation; concerns about a likely increase in traffic as a result of the proposed development and the impact of this extra traffic on our already stretched local road system; still unresolved problems with the local sewerage network and the network’s ability to cope with further development; and concerns about our local infrastructure (such as healthcare services, schools, and the local electricity network) and its ability to cope with further housing growth.

Hoveton Parish Council strongly objected to proposals made with regards to access for the preferred site (HV01/B). The Parish Council shares the concerns of many local residents that the proposals for “access to be provided off Tunstead Road with a through connection to Stalham Road” will result in the creation of a road which will be used as a ‘rat run’, creating a road safety hazard near the new Brook Park children’s play area and negatively impacting on residents. The Council also raised concerns about the problems encountered with Brook Park ‘phase one’ (in terms of the work done by the developer Persimmon) being repeated with Brook Park ‘phase two’ (preferred site HV01/B) and included this as a further objection to the preferred site.
