A new campaign has been launched aimed at Norfolk’s young carers. Led by Norfolk Safeguarding Children’s Partnership and supported by Carers Matter Norfolk and Caring Together, Heroes at Home recognises the vital role young carers play in supporting their loved ones at home and highlights the range of support available to help them. It is estimated that over 11,000 children and young people from as young as five years of age in Norfolk are carers, helping to look after or support a family member or friend. This figure is likely to be higher as many children and young people may not identify themselves as a carer but may still fulfil a regular caring role for a family member. For support and advice or a live chat online, visit www.youngcarersmatternorfolk.org or call the Carers Matters Norfolk Advice Line on 0800 083 1148. This helpline is still available during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Help Shape The Future Of Hoveton
Hoveton Parish Council is keen to consult with local residents in order to gather views on the positive and negative aspects of life in Hoveton, and to determine how and where changes can be made to improve quality of life for all. In the near future, your Parish Council hopes to produce a new five-year Parish Plan, which will outline the Council’s vision and key priorities for Hoveton for the next five years.
However, the Parish Plan is also supposed to reflect the thoughts, feelings and ideas of local residents. Therefore, your help is needed if the Parish Plan is to be a true reflection of life in Hoveton; past, present and future. What would you like to see included in the new Parish Plan? What do you think Hoveton Parish Council’s priorities should be in the future? What is your vision for the future of your village? This is a wonderful opportunity to contribute your suggestions, so please do get in touch. Read Hoveton’s existing Parish Plan and then contact Cllr Martin Richmond (mrichmond@hoveton-pc.org.uk) with your feedback.

The Bridge (June 2020)
We’re pleased to be able to share the June edition of The Bridge magazine:

Coronavirus Recovery Phase
As we begin to move beyond the lockdown, the likelihood that people will be unable to take foreign holidays for the foreseeable future might mean that large numbers of people will take holidays, short breaks and day visits within the UK. This means that, from early July, large numbers of people might visit our area, presenting opportunities for local businesses to realise some benefits from what otherwise has been a dreadful season.
Hoveton Parish Council and North Norfolk District Council have begun to consider how large numbers of visitors could be safely managed and accommodated in Hoveton. Our village has many small retail and takeaway businesses and restrictions mean that more people are queuing to enter these businesses and are eating outdoors. We will need to adopt some temporary arrangements to provide a safe environment for pedestrians and traffic. These arrangements would need to be in place for the summer, through say to the end of September.

Parish Council Meetings Update
In accordance with new regulations issued by the Government, Hoveton Parish Council has now decided to cancel this year’s annual parish council meeting (with all current appointments such as that of Chairman and Vice-Chairman continuing until the next annual parish council meeting in May 2021) and to cancel the 2020 annual parish meeting. HPC is currently exploring the possibility of holding remote (virtual) parish council meetings, which will be open to members of the public. It is hoped it will be possible for the Council to hold its first remote meeting in early June, using Zoom. The date and time of this meeting are still to be confirmed, but three clear days’ notice of all parish council meetings will continue to be provided to local residents via our website and Facebook page.
