This application will be considered at the next meeting of Hoveton Parish Council, due to be held on Monday 1st April 2019.
Just a reminder that work is now underway on Wroxham Bridge to repair a brickwork wall which has been damaged and to carry out maintenance on a steel deck plate. The work is expected to take three weeks to complete and one lane of the A1151 Norwich Road over the bridge will remain closed until the work is complete. In February 2019, the speeds of over 36,500 vehicles were recorded by HPC’s SAM2 device on Tunstead Road. The speed limit on this stretch of road is 30mph, but almost 20,000 vehicles were recorded at speeds of 35mph or more, with almost 500 of these vehicles travelling at speeds of 50mph or more. The data collected by the SAM2 has been shared with Norfolk Police. Please slow down in our village. 
Hoveton Parish Council has recently been contacted by two charities in need of volunteers and support from the local community. Perhaps you would like to get involved in their work? The British Red Cross helps people in crisis, here in the UK as well as abroad. They provide services such as Event First Aid, Emergency Planning and Response, Care In The Home, Refugee Services, and International Disaster Relief. Norfolk Accident Rescue Service (NARS) provides emergency medical care to people who have suffered traumatic or life-threatening injuries or serious medical conditions, such as cardiac arrest. Last year, NARS medics responded to over 500 calls, and NARS is currently running an ambitious training programme which will eventually result in an additional fifteen critical care paramedics to help people in Norfolk. NARS receives no funding from the NHS or the Ambulance Trust so is looking for local volunteers to organise fundraising events or to get involved with its work. With high winds and rain (Storm Gareth) arriving in the region today, Hoveton Parish Council has received some timely advice from UK Power Networks. Though the electricity network is built to be resilient, high winds and rain can damage overhead power lines, resulting in some customers losing their electricity supply. Where this happens, UK Power Networks works to restore power as quickly and safely as possible, with additional staff in its contact centre to help customers whose electricity supply might be affected, and additional engineers to carry out repairs to the electricity network.
