The partners and staff of Hoveton & Wroxham Medical Centre are aware of increasing patient frustration around not being able to book a routine appointment with their GP. Practice Manager Chris Stace recently issued a note to explain the current situation at the Medical Centre and to outline plans to address this situation in the future. Wroxham Bridge Repairs
Norfolk County Council has advised that work is set to start on Sunday 17th March to repair a brickwork wall which has been damaged and to carry out maintenance on a steel deck plate on Wroxham Bridge. The work is expected to take three weeks to complete. To allow these vital repairs to be carried out safely it will be necessary to close one lane of the A1151 Norwich Road over the bridge until work is complete. Temporary traffic lights will be used to control traffic and these will be manually controlled during peak times to allow traffic to flow as smoothly as possible.
A low brickwork wall on the north west approach to Wroxham Bridge has been struck several times by vehicles and the resulting damage has prompted the need for repair work to ensure public safety is not compromised. The wall will be repaired and strengthened and also raised in height to increase the protection provided. Other minor adjustments will also be made to the approach fencing. Urgent repairs are also needed on a metal deck plate on the main river bridge which has cracked. The plate will be re-welded at the same time as the wall repairs.
To minimise disruption the work has been programmed before the busy Easter period. The wall and bridge work will be carried out at the same time using additional labour, extended working hours and weekend working, all of which have been planned to make sure the scheme is completed as swiftly as possible.
