  • Parish Elections 2019

As many Hoveton residents will be aware, elections for North Norfolk District Council are due to take place on 2nd May 2019, but what you may not know is that this date coincides with Parish Council elections, which take place every four years. If you care about Hoveton and are passionate about your local community, why not consider standing as a candidate in these elections?

To find out more about the elections, or about becoming a parish councillor, please visit our Make A Change, Become A Parish Councillor page.

An information evening for election candidates is due to be held at North Norfolk District Council’s offices (Holt Road, Cromer, NR27 9EN) at 6pm on Monday 4th March for Parish Council candidates, and on Thursday 7th March for District Council candidates. The evening will last approximately one hour, depending on questions, and will cover topics such as the election timetable, the nominations process and paperwork, eligibility to stand, and postal voting and count arrangements. These briefings are open to anyone interested in standing as a candidate in the upcoming elections. Anyone planning to attend is asked to inform the NNDC Elections Team on elections@north-norfolk.gov.uk or 01263 516266.

  • Youth Club Proposal

Following feedback received as part of our Parish Plan consultation, your Parish Council and the Hoveton Village Hall Management Committee are exploring the possibility of opening a youth club at Hoveton Village Hall, in order to give young people in our village somewhere safe and dry to hang out with friends. For a project like this one to succeed, however, we will need the support of the local community. Do you have any ideas or experience that could help us get this project up and running? If so, then we’d love to hear from you! Please contact Cllr Jilly Gourlay on 07818 214277 (or email jgourlay@hoveton-pc.org.uk).

  • New Grit Bin For Hoveton

Following representations from local residents last year, Hoveton Parish Council has now successfully lobbied for, and funded the purchase of, an additional grit bin for our village. The new bin will be sited on Grange Close (on the grass area to the right of the entrance to Grange Close), and local residents are welcome and encouraged to help themselves to grit from this bin in order to treat nearby footpaths in cold and icy weather.
