• BROOKE PARK PHASE TWO – UPDATE

The North Norfolk Local Plan will likely be adopted this month (December 2025) and therefore it is highly likely that the site we know as Brooke Park Phase Two will be developed. To reiterate, the Council has opposed these plans at every stage.

The exhibition hosted by FW Properties (the developer of the site) was well attended and the Council is grateful to those who came to see what is being planned.

There is currently an opportunity to share your thoughts with the developer and possibly influence their plans. The Council’s response is part of that, but residents can also have their say by completing the form here – https://www.ingletonwood.co.uk/hoveton-consultation-contact-form.php

It is expected that the next step will be a formal planning submission by the developer. At that stage there will be a further opportunity to comment on the plans – this time directly to NNDC who are the planning authority.

The feedback from the Community Council to the developer is available here – https://hoveton-cc.gov.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/HCC-response-BP2.pdf

  • Business Consultation – Granary Staithe

    Granary Staithe – The Future

Dear business owner – we want to hear from you and would be grateful if you could join us to discuss Granary Staithe at Hoveton Village Hall (and via Zoom) on Monday June 9th 2025 at 10:30 AM.

You will all, no doubt, have heard a lot of chatter about the “Staithe” either in the local media or by word of mouth.  This has arisen following mention in Council minutes of the review into the staithe’s future which has been ongoing for almost a year.

Hoveton Community Council (HCC) started its review to gain clarity on the Council’s operating costs and the funds it needs to put aside for maintenance and repair of its assets.  The council needs clarity for the future and must ensure its ability to balance income against costs.

There is not yet a clear position on any possible commercial involvement, either on the staithe itself or in the vicinity, which may either be impacted or may contribute.  The Council needs to understand how the future liabilities (primarily the replacement cost of the quay heading) could be shared more equally with those who benefit most from the area and/or additional benefit derived for the residents who, ultimately, pay for upkeep.

As such, HCC is asking you, the businesses, to a meeting because residents tell us that you are the ones who potentially derive most value from the Staithe as things stand.  Many of those using the facility having been drawn there by take-aways and other outlets who benefit from this trade and the Council needs to understand your thoughts.

HCC needs to define its options and then move forward with the most appropriate plan.  The most extreme option is likely to be the sale of the land. Less extreme options include raising monies; maybe from advertising space, use of the dyke, or sponsorship of tables by local businesses.  It may also be possible to provide additional benefits by ensuring that the area is better used, particularly by local residents.

    The Council would like to look at options such as;

    1. adding QR codes/phones numbers etc to the tables in the staithe enabling people sitting there to order from you.
    2. ensuring the tables are cleaned regularly.
    • listening to your ideas of how you can assist.
    1. looking at humane ways to control the seagull and pigeon populations.

So, the time has come to determine the future of Granary Staithe and its cost to the community versus the benefits to both the community and the local businesses.  We would like you to join us at Hoveton Village Hall (and via Zoom) on Monday June 9th 2025 at 10:30 AM

Please would you email our Clerk to confirm your attendance at –clerk@hoveton-pc.org.uk – together with any questions, Zoom link details will be sent out at a later date.

Regards, Andrew Parker (Vice-Chairman) for and on behalf of Hoveton Community Council.
